Seesaw is a digital portfolio that allows students to document and share what they are learning in the classroom. I first began using Seesaw in February when it was introduced to my classroom from a member of our district instructional technology team. Students can document their learning through photos, videos, drawings, text notes and links. What I particularly love about this app is how easy it is for students to use. They were given a short amount of time to explore the app with a few task based activities and then they were ready to go. Students can login by using a QR code or by using a Google email address for older students.
Seesaw bridges the gap between what happens at school and home. No longer will student go home and reply “nothing” when asked what they did at school because parents will be able to see what they did via the Seesaw app. Teachers approve all new additions and comments prior to parents being able to see the work of their child.
What I have seen from using the Seesaw app in my classroom is an increase in student engagement, a decrease in senseless copies and an environment where students are taking greater accountability in their work.
